Back in black

In retrospect, 2013 wasn't exactly my best year in terms of blogging. A whopping five posts is less than overwhelming...BUT I am entering the New Year with a new frame of mind and new resolution to get back into the blogging world! I was recently inspired by the show Courtney Loves Dallas. If you don't know (but you should, she's fantastic) is centered around Courtney Kerr, a Dallas socialite, fashionista, and blogger! The show really reminded me how much I do enjoy blogging and how great of an outlet it can be.

Anyhoo, here's what I've been up to the past couple months. I've been studying my life away for the LSAT and yes, it's just as horrible as it sounds. I took a class over the summer, took both the October and December LSAT, and now I'm just waiting to get my score back so I can start applying to law schools! It's a terribly frightening and exciting time, most especially because I have no idea where I want to go to school. I literally can't even tell you what region of the U.S. It's that bad. I can see myself on the West Coast soaking up the California sun, on the East Coast enjoying the magical city of NYC, down South fulfilling my ambitions of becoming a Southern belle, or maybe staying in Minneapolis with all the amazing friends I've made these past three years. I just don't know what to do! More on that later...Other than that, I've moved into a brand new apartment with three of my best friends and it's been the best experience I could have asked for. These girls are my family and I literally don't know how I would survive without their love, support, and happiness they bring into my life. I'm almost 22 now and I'm at the point where most of my friends are in serious relationships and a few are engaged already. Obviously, I'm still living the single life but what's new? Just as I have a knack for randomly picking out the most expensive item in a store, I also have a knack for picking the douchiest of men. It's really making me question my life decisions because my best friend is planning her summer wedding and I'm at school trying to convince my friends to go to the bar with me because "Tuesdays are the new Saturdays!" Seriously though...they are, I love Tuesdays. Whatever, I'll find my Chuck Bass eventually (pray for me).

Well, that's enough about me! Blogging on the reg is one of my many New Years resolutions and I'm actually too excited about it. Does anyone else already have their resolutions picked out? You'll hear more from me soon :)

Sunday Social - Vacations

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday loves! Today I'll be linking up with Ashley at Ashley's Carnival Ride and Neely at A Complete Waste of Make Up for Sunday Social, this week's theme is vacations! I absolutely love to travel and have been fortunate enough to have gone quite a few places in my day :) I hope I can continue to travel in the future as much as I have the past 20 years. Let's get to the questions...

1. What is the best trip you've ever been on? I can't pick just one, I have two! Both very different. My first favorite was a family vacation to Hawaii. I believe I was a junior in high school and I loved every second of that trip. Getting to Hawaii was not the most fun however, (we flew from Green Bay to Minneapolis to L.A. to Honolulu to Maui) and they lost our luggage for a day in the process! No worries though, we got to buy new swimsuits and our hotel was very accommodating as well. We spent 5 days in Maui and 3 days in Honolulu. Maui was definitely my favorite, it was unbelievably gorgeous. I would go back there in a heartbeat! A couple fun things we did in Hawaii was take surfing lessons, go on a helicopter ride, and we went to a luau :)

My other favorite vacation was also when I was a junior in high school. I had been dying to go to New York City and my grandpa used to fly there for work every week. So we picked a weekend in October and my grandparents, mother, and I went there for a long weekend. It was great because my grandpa was going there for work anyway so we just went along to shop and got all the perks of flying with him...After arriving in New York we were picked up by A LIMO which drove us through downtown Manhattan to our hotel. It was so amazing and our hotel was beautiful! We spent the next couple days shopping and we were supposed to go see Wicked but unfortunately that's when the play writers were on strike so the show was cancelled :( I definitely want to do a trip to New York again soon!

2. What is your best idea for a girl's weekend trip? If everyone could afford it, I think New York would be a great place to go with some girlfriends for the weekend. The shopping, the shows, and the nightlife would be a blast. I've also done Chicago weekend trips (pictured below) which are always a good time as well!

3. What is your best idea for a couple's trip? Hmm...there's a small area in Wisconsin called Door County which is made up of tiny little towns that could be a good place for couples. It's right on the water so there's tons of beaches and the cutest beach houses you'll ever see. I go up there with my mom a lot because they have some good shopping. It'd be nice to stay in a bed and breakfast there and explore for a couple days!

 4. What is the best vacation on the cheap? I'd say weekend trips to Chicago are relatively cheap if you do it the right way. I have friends that live near there so we always stay at their houses so there's no need to pay for a hotel. Then all you have to pay for is a train ticket to take you downtown as well as meals and such.

5. What is the place you most want to visit? Europe for sure! I plan on studying abroad either Spring semester or doing a summer term in Europe. Right now I'm thinking I would go to Italy and I'd like to travel to Spain, France, England, and Greece while I'm there!

6. What are your travel necessities? Well I've already gone over some of those in my Travel Essentials post and I'm working on the second part of that right now so stay tuned and you'll find out :)

That's all I have for today! Thanks for reading!

Putting on my big girl panties

Today, I took one step closer in figuring out exactly what I want to do with my life, yay! I decided it was time to give up the dream that I would get my MRS degree and be some lucky man's trophy wife...I know, sad day. Anyhoo, I've always wanted to go to law school but I was never quite sure what kind of law I eventually wanted to practice. At first I was thinking Family Law, I totally saw myself doing divorces and saying "we're gonna sue that son-of-a-bitch for everything he's got" to heartbroken gals. In reality, it's a lot more complicated, messy, and less glamourous than that. But after talking to numerous lawyers, I think I found my calling in the law world...Entertainment Law. Now some of you may ask, what in the hell is that? Well...it's pretty much how it sounds. Entertainment Law focuses on providing legal services to the entertainment industry, whether that be film, music, television, etc. It's right up my alley. There's something about the entertainment industry that I'm just drawn to, and yes I know it's not all glamour there's a lot more that goes into it behind the scenes. I don't know, it's just so intriguing to me and it's always been that way. Going into this type of law would mean I would have to move to a big media city (L.A., New York, NASHVILLE!) Just thinking about it makes me giddy inside!

And this brings me to my next dilemma. My major is Sociology of Law, Criminology, and Deviance with a minor in Management (the only Business minor non-Business schoolers are allowed to have). I'm not so worried about my major, it's a little too late to change that anyway but I'm wondering if I should I change my minor to something with media? Or is business applicable to everything? I'm not sure, I guess it'll be something to talk to my counselor about but I swear, sometimes my guess is as good as theirs...At least I have a little more direction in life at the moment! It's always a good feeling :)

Already decided this is my future home in Nashville - how cute! (I concern myself sometimes...)

Also, I'd die and go to heaven if I were Luke Bryan's lawyer...I imagine our conversations would go something like this.

Anyone else slowly but surely figuring out their plans for the future?! I'd love to hear the schools y'all attend and your majors too :)
